Art Sjogren

Educated at North Park College, Westminster Choir College, Indiana University, Peabody Conservatory and the Vienna Academy of Music, Mr. Sjogren has studied with such famous conductors as Robert Shaw and Eric Ericsson (Conductor of the Swedish Radio Chorus) and has served on the faculties of Harvard University, Barrington College, Westminster Choir College and the University of Pretoria.

Mr. Sjogren has served for 34 years as the director of vocal music for New Canaan High School.

In addition to his teaching responsibilities at New Canaan High School he is the artistic director of the Pro Arte Singers, Connecticut’s premier professional vocal ensemble.

In the past few years, Mr. Sjogren has been a guest professor of conducting at the Music Conservatory in Gdansk, Poland, the University of Pretoria in South Africa, the Choral Festival in Bad Nauheim, Germany, as well as many festivals in the United States.
